A Brokers Open is a long established tradition in the real estate industry. Each Multiple Listing Service has set specific days and times for this event. An agent or seller will usually have a Brokers Open to introduce a property to the market and to other agents throughout the MLS.
Brokers Opens are scheduled during weekday business hours and run for roughly 2 hours. The providing agent will usually entice other agents to come for a preview of the property with either a lunch, dessert, gift certificate or something that would appeal to a real estate agent. Agents generally need to be bribed to attend Brokers Opens, sad but true.
It is not uncommon for agents within a community with many homes on the market to put together a Progressive Brokers Open. A progressive open highlights multiple homes for sale in a particular neighborhood at the same time. Each home will have a different food item or give away. Having multiple open home events at the same time generally promotes higher attendance.
Any seller who wants to hold their own Brokers Open would have a great opportunity to connect and talk shop with agents in their area. It is also a great way to gain valuable feedback from real estate professionals about your home and property.
Your SMH representative will be happy to notify you when the Brokers Open are scheduled for your area.
